I got into the kitchen and cabinet industry early on in my career. My father was in the business at Elmwood Kitchens, and that's when I got my first opportunity in kitchens.

Twenty years into that, I stumbled across one of our resellers who was doing outdoor kitchens, and that was NatureKast. He was dabbling with a polyurethane resin product,

a composite product that could hold up to the elements, making molds from real wood. It caught our attention, and we built a relationship with him over the years as he was developing the product.

Then he asked us for help as it was scaling up, and we were able to give him a hand.

That relationship developed into a partnership, and then later, we bought NatureKast outright.

I think we all remember the outdoor dining experience being pretty much a standalone barbecue.

Maybe you had a little rolling cart if you were lucky, to countertops with some space underneath, or a few floating shelves.

Now, it's a space that doesn't look much different than the indoor kitchen. We take pride in what we design for the functionality of the kitchen outdoors.

We want to make sure that it feels exactly like what you'd be able to deal with in a high-end, luxury indoor kitchen.

Our vision for NatureKast from the start was to be the number one outdoor kitchen provider — and not just in volume. That was not the goal. It was to make sure what we were producing was something of a level of luxury, sophistication, design and functionality that no one else was producing in an outdoor product, and to really, again, make it an extension of the home.

What was available to do with real wood indoors, we were taking to the outdoors and not compromising on that, but knowing we had to deal with the elements and finding the right products that could hold up to them. That was the goal, and I think we've done that. It's just cool every day to see the jobs come across my desk

and understand what our customers now have to work with in outdoor kitchens, and that NatureKast developed that.

I've been blessed to be a part of the growth of NatureKast, from being in a small garage in Freeport, Florida, to a 35,000-square-foot shop; from a couple of employees to now just over 70.

Exactly what the future holds for NatureKast, I can't say, but we're excited about where we're headed. We will never compromise on our quality, shipping on time and complete, but we will continue to push the envelope for outdoor kitchens and see where it brings us.

NatureKast was officially registered as a company and began operating in Freeport, Florida, introducing a new category of design-forward outdoor cabinetry.
